MMA legend Jon Jones has revealed important information about his future in MMA. The American, who last competed in 2024 in New York (USA) and has since left the UFC, made it clear that he is not retired. On the contrary, at 38 years old, 'Bones', who has never left the league's anti-doping program, has shown himself more than willing to step into the octagon again, even without giving an ideal date for his return to action.
In an interview with 'Ring Magazine', Jones put pressure on the UFC by revealing that he is waiting to receive a major and grand fight. It is worth noting that the MMA star, disappointed at not getting the super fight against Alex Poatan at the White House in June, and fighting in front of Donald Trump, the President of the United States and his idol, clashed with Dana White and asked to be released from his contract.

To make matters worse, the UFC president angered Jones by stating that if the Brazilian had beaten Cyril Gane , he would have surpassed his legacy and become the greatest MMA fighter in history, something that didn't happen. Now that he has met Dana backstage at UFC 329 and they have reconciled, the legendary athlete, acting as a mentor to Gable Stevenson , indicates that he is motivated and reinvigorated to fight again and, who knows, regain the heavyweight title (up to 120,2 kg).
“ As for me fighting someone, I’m keeping the door open . I’m still in the UFC’s anti-doping program. I do drug tests and blood tests all the time. I’m living indirectly through my friend Gable now. I tell everyone that, being backstage, close to the fans, seeing that passion, being in the gym, I can do it all again through him,” said the MMA legend.
“I’m giving him my best, teaching him everything I know about the sport. And that’s been very rewarding for me. I think for a lot of fans too. They’re like, ‘Jon, when are you coming back?’ And those same fans say, ‘Hey, welcome back, Coach Jon.’ So, I’m feeling that itch. I feel like I’m giving the fans that itch, but I’m just doing it with a fighter from the younger generation.”
“And honestly, it’s rewarding. It’s not as rewarding as being in the ring or the octagon, but it makes you want to . I can genuinely say that I’m happy right now. The door is open. I’m still in the anti-doping testing program. I’m just letting time pass while I focus on someone else. And if I feel that call from higher powers, that impulse, I’ll have to answer that call.”
“Now, I feel like I’m in the right place, which is to serve someone else. The UFC, while I’m in the anti-doping testing program, is contractually obligated to offer me some fights per year . I haven’t heard from them in a while, but I accept things as they come. When they offer me a fight, it will be great . We’ll see how I feel when that moment arrives,” he concluded.
