Islam Makhachev is in a hurry to defend his belt again. The Russian defeated Ian Machado Garry in the main event of UFC 330 , held last Saturday (15), and, in addition to retaining the welterweight title (up to 77 kg), achieved his 17th consecutive victory in the UFC, surpassing the record that belonged to Anderson Silva . Despite the magnitude of his achievements, the Dagestani already has a date in mind for his next challenge.
In a press conference after UFC 330 , Makhachev stated that he intends to return to the octagon before the start of Ramadan (in February) and indicated January as the ideal time for his next title defense.
The champion also emphasized that, at 34 years old, he does not intend to slow down his career. According to Makhachev, he does not face significant physical problems and does not need to undergo a very aggressive weight cut, factors that would facilitate a quick return to the octagon.

Riding high after knockout victories over Geoff Neal , Leon Edwards , and Jack Della Maddalena , Carlos Prates emerges as one of the top contenders to challenge Islam Makhachev next in the UFC.
The Brazilian has already stated that the organization has signaled the possibility of putting him in a title fight, while the champion himself has shown enthusiasm for the idea of facing the fighter from São Paulo.
