Islam Makhachev may be facing his biggest career challenge, but outside the UFC. This Saturday (5), the welterweight champion (up to 77,1 kg) of the company attended the grand RAF event, held in Moscow (RUS), and saw wrestling legends in action up close. In fact, the legendary Russian was targeted by one of the best wrestlers in history and was not intimidated by the 'call'.

Gold medalist in wrestling at the 2012 London Olympics and multiple world champion, Jordan Burroughs put on a show at the event and confirmed his status as favorite against Magomed Kurbanaliev, winning 10-0 (technical superiority). Excited and aware of the UFC star's presence at the event, the American issued a challenge.
Upon learning of the wrestler's 'invitation', Makhachev didn't hesitate to respond and accepted the superfight, which has all the makings of a historic event. It's worth noting that this wasn't the first time Burroughs expressed interest in wrestling against the Russian.
“Makhachev, where are you? I came to your country, to your capital, and I beat one of your world champions by technical superiority. I will return to Russia very soon, and the only person I want to share the stage with is Makhachev. I will be back,” said the wrestling legend in the post-fight interview.
“Congratulations on the victory, legend. In the cage, anywhere, anytime 😉,” wrote the UFC star on his official 'X' account.

Makhachev's history in MMA
Islam Makhachev , 34, is a UFC double champion and an MMA legend. With four successful title defenses, the Russian holds the record in the lightweight division (up to 70,3 kg). He began his career in the sport in 2010 and debuted in the UFC's biggest organization in 2015.
In this discipline, Khabib Nurmagomedov 's friend built a record of 29 wins and one loss. The welterweight champion's main victories were over Alexander Volkanovski (twice), Arman Tsarukyan , Charles Oliveira , Dustin Poirier , Ian Machado Garry , Jack Della Maddalena , and Renato Moicano.
