Valentina Shevchenko has relinquished her UFC flyweight title (up to 56,7 kg). The former champion's decision came shortly before the organization announced a new title fight and ends, at least temporarily, her reign in the category. The injuries that motivated her withdrawal were revealed by her coach, Pavel Fedotov.

In a post on Ushatayka's Telegram, last Sunday (6), the coach detailed the decision taken by the team and confirmed that Valentina would not be available for the match scheduled for October 3. His team opted not to proceed with the match and prioritize the recovery of the former champion.

“We were supposed to fight Natalia Silva on October 3rd, but due to a ligament injury in her shoulder and back, we decided not to force the fight and postpone it. Considering that the recovery will be lengthy, we decided that she will temporarily vacate the belt and, as soon as she recovers, she will fight for it again,” stated Pavel Fedotov.

With Valentina's temporary absence, the UFC set a new fight for the flyweight belt last Saturday (5). But according to the coach, the intention of the historic MMA fighter, however, is to return after recovery and fight for the title again.
