It's no secret that Alex Poatan dreams of becoming the heavyweight champion (up to 120,2 kg) and, to achieve this, he seeks revenge against Ciryl Gane , his nemesis and current interim title holder. In June, in Washington (USA), the UFC star didn't perform well in his debut in the category and suffered a brutal knockout against the Frenchman in the second round. Having fallen short of expectations, the Brazilian was honest in analyzing his future in the company.

In an interview with UFC Brazil, Poatan opened up and left his return to light heavyweight (up to 93 kg) open. It's worth noting that, for many, the Brazilian made a mistake in switching to the heavyweight division, as he doesn't have the ideal physique to compete against taller, stronger, and more powerful fighters.
It's true that the athlete has already confirmed that his next fight will still be in the most dangerous weight class in MMA. However, given his dominance in the light heavyweight division, Poatan doesn't rule out a return to, perhaps, reclaim the throne and restore order.
“I can fight both. That’s in my agreement. I have options to come back if I want, if I don’t feel well. I think there’s no shame in coming back. I think, well, I’ve done a lot of things, you know, within the UFC. I think I have those options. I think I deserve that,” said the veteran.
Poatan's main victories
In the UFC since 2021, Alex Poatan has experienced a meteoric rise in MMA, shining in the octagon and becoming one of the biggest stars. The Brazilian was champion in the middleweight division (up to 83,9 kg) and the light heavyweight division (up to 93 kg), defeating big names in the sport such as Israel Adesanya , Jamahal Hill , Jan Błachowicz, Jiri Prochazka (twice), Khalil Rountree Jr., Magomed Ankalaev , and Sean Strickland.
Johnny Walker opens up about his heavyweight debut at UFC 332.
