Jean Silva had a strategy in place that went beyond the octagon at Noche UFC , held last Saturday (12). The Brazilian faced José Miguel Delgado and won by submission in the third round, in a duel surrounded by controversy on the part of his rival, who raised the tension of the confrontation with his statements.

In a video posted on his YouTube channel, Jean explained that he noticed a drop in Delgado's performance throughout the fight. According to the Brazilian, his opponent started the fight trying to impose his rhythm, but lost efficiency as the contest progressed. From the second round onwards, the plan was to increase the pressure and accelerate the pace in the final seconds to wear him down even more.

“He was fading away. He started strong, touched, kicked, moved around, but it didn't work. So, I started the second round speeding things up and, in the end, we did what we had planned: put pressure on him and really accelerate in the last 10 seconds. And we're going to make him congratulate us,” said Jean Silva.

Jean also revealed that the strategy included provoking a change in Delgado's posture in the third round. Before the fight, the American had stated that he would not shake hands with the Brazilian and had criticized his demeanor.

“I come back for the third round, I extend my hand to him and he shakes our hand. I said, 'Whoa, he's out of the game, not just the fight.' Because, before the fight, he said a lot of crap, that he wasn't going to shake my hand, that it was a mask and stuff… Right there, I said, 'Now the boy is back,'” Lord concluded.

Jean Silva could challenge for the UFC belt.

With his victory over José Delgado, Jean Silva strengthened his position in the race for the featherweight title (up to 65,7 kg). The Brazilian could become the next challenger for the title, since Movsar Evloev , his main competitor for the opportunity, is scheduled to face Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 333.
