In the video, captioned 'News coming soon!', Poatan is seen throwing punches at a heavy bag. While the former UFC champion didn't reveal his opponent's name, he did seem excited about the challenge ahead.

Since the Brazilian has already stated his intention to continue in the heavyweight division (up to 120,2 kg), with the current scenario, he may face Sergei Pavlovich . It is worth noting that Poatan is ranked third in the category, while the Russian, a friend of Valter Walker , is number two.

"It's coming. Good news, a great challenge. As I told you, if I hadn't taken risks in all my fights, I wouldn't be who I am today," the fighter said on his official Instagram account.

Brutally knocked out by Ciryl Gane in his heavyweight debut (up to 120,2 kg), Poatan campaigned for an immediate rematch, but was unsuccessful. The company decided that the Frenchman, now promoted to undisputed champion in the absence of Tom Aspinall , will defend his title for the first time against Josh Hokit at UFC 334 in November.

Another option for Poatan

Since his heavyweight debut was disappointing, Poatan may return to the light heavyweight division (up to 93 kg). In fact, the Brazilian recently stated that it would be "no shame at all" to fight again in the category where he was champion. If he returns to the division he dominated, the veteran could complete a trilogy with Magomed Ankalaev , his rival, challenge Carlos Ulberg , the current champion, or be Paulo Borrachinha 's last opponent in the UFC.

Johnny Walker opens up about his heavyweight debut at UFC 332.
