With the embezzlement of Glover Teixeira in the main fight of UFC Sao Paulo due to a shoulder injury, Anthony Smith offered to be the replacement. The Brazilian would face Jimi Manuwa on September 22nd at the Ginásio do Ibirapuera, in São Paulo.

Anthony Smith has been prepared to fight for less than a month after beating the Brazilian by knockout, Mauricio Shogun Street at UFC Hamburg at the end of July. Before that, the 'legend hunter' defeated Rashad evans with a knee that 'erased' Suga who announced his retirement.
On Tuesday (14), Jimi Manuwa spoke about Glover's departure and that he was looking for a new opponent. He needs to recover after two consecutive defeats to Volkan oezdemir e Jan Blachowicz.
