Paulão weighed 87,3kg, above the 84kg category. With two hours to reach the limit, the Brazilian managed to lose just 2,6kg. With this, the WEC organization announced, on its official website, that the fight between Paulão and Chael Sonnen it will still happen, but it will only be three rounds and will not count as a title fight, and 25% of the purse paid to the Brazilian will be given to his opponent.
