Chael Sonnen says Justin Gaethje will defend his BMF belt at UFC 300; check the opponent

Chael Sonnen stated that Justin Gaethje , the current BMF (Baddest Motherfucker) title holder, will face Max Holloway , former featherweight champion, at UFC 300 , which is expected to take place in April 2024. The former fighter and current commentator, on his YouTube channel, said that the official announcement of the fight will be made soon.

Gaethje, a former interim lightweight champion, is waiting for another chance to challenge for the undisputed title in the division, currently held by Islam Makhachev . However, the American would be willing to have one more fight beforehand, provided it's against Holloway, who also plans to move up a weight class after dominating the featherweight division for years.

So, as we’re starting to look at UFC 300 , I’m not just going to say that the BMF will be defended, I’m going to go a step further and say: It’s the big prize, it’s the one the boys want. Justin Gaethje vs. Max Holloway will have a fight announcement soon,” Sonnen declared.

Gaethje is considered one of the most exciting fighters in MMA , due to his aggressive style and powerful strikes. He has a record of 25 wins and seven losses. 'The Highlight', as he is known, has already defeated names like Dustin Poirier , Michael Chandler , Rafael Fiziev , and Tony Ferguson . His last fight was in July of this year, when he won the BMF belt.

Holloway, for his part, is one of the biggest names in featherweight history, having been champion of the category between 2017 and 2020. The Hawaiian has a record of 28 wins and seven losses in his career, and has already defeated stars such as Anthony Pettis , Charles Oliveira , Frankie Edgar , and José Aldo (twice). His last fight was in June, when he defeated Korean Zombie by knockout.

UFC 300 does not yet have a set date or location, but it is expected to take place in the first half of 2024. The event is expected to feature other historic fights.
