Mayra Sheetara is about to fight for the vacant UFC bantamweight (61,2 kg) title against Raquel Pennington in the co-main event of UFC 297 , which takes place on January 20th. But the rivalry that most attracts the attention of the Minas Gerais native is with another fighter in the same category: former champion Julianna Peña.

In an interview with the Trocação Franca podcast, Sheetara did not mince words to despise Peña, who accused her of using banned substances after the Brazilian tested positive for doping. The Minas Gerais woman stated that the North American just wants to provoke and escape a fight between them.

“Julianna will be injured for the rest of her career. She doesn’t want to fight, she just wants to talk. All she does is make noise. I have fun because every time she posts something about me, it’s funny. I hope this fight happens because it will entertain the fans a lot. I promise to beat her up and show her who’s boss,” said Sheetara, who also called her a “noisy chicken” and threatened to kill her on another occasion.

Mayra is experiencing the best phase of her career. A former flyweight (up to 56,7 kg), she moved up to bantamweight at the beginning of 2022 and since then has accumulated three victories by submission and one “no contest” (fight without result).
