Amid rumors of a super fight against Max Holloway for the ' BMF ' belt at UFC 300 , Justin Gaethje made it clear that he does not intend to face the featherweight legend (up to 65,7kg). On his X profile , formerly Twitter , the American reinforced his challenge to Islam Makhachev and summoned the lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg) to a fight.
“I’m waiting for the call. I’m ready whenever you want me, UFC. Let’s see who can kick the other in the head first, Islam Makhachev ,” Gaethje wrote.

Ranked number two in the division, behind only Charles Oliveira and the champion, Justin took the opportunity to downplay the Brazilian's merit in fighting for the title. Recently, Dana White indicated that the former champion was the favorite to face the Russian star.
“Do Bronx had his chance and didn’t show up for the rematch. That’s the way it is,” she concluded.
Former interim lightweight champion Gaethje had his first opportunity to claim the title in a fight against then-champion Khabib Nurmagomedov . On that occasion, the American was submitted by the division legend.
The title holder since the end of 2022, Makhachev has already shown himself to be in favor of a fight against Justin. The Russian publicly admits his lack of interest in a rematch against Charles, his victim in the fight that crowned him 'king' of the group, at UFC 280.
