Since Acelino “Popó” Freitas' retirement in the first decade of the 2000s, Brazilian boxing has experienced a rather quiet period. In recent years, however, great boxers have emerged in the country and have achieved international prominence, even fighting for important titles. Therefore, many fans of the noble art have been using the bet365 bonus code to try and predict if we will soon have a new world champion.

The rebirth of Brazilian boxing depends on the beautiful work that has been carried out in the amateur sector, focused on producing high-level boxers for the Olympics.

Since 2012, in the London competition, Brazil has won Olympic boxing medals in every edition. That year, in the men's category, the brothers Esquiva and Yamaguchi Falcão took silver and bronze, respectively. Adriana Araújo also achieved bronze, consecrating an excellent Brazilian participation.

After the Olympics, the Falcão brothers turned professional and started fighting important fights around the world. The same path was followed by Robson Conceição (gold in 2016) and, more recently, Hebert Conceição (gold in 2020).

With this, Brazil “gained” several high-level boxers, who are having interesting fights with some of the main names in the noble art in the world. But on that list there is still Patrick Teixeira, who unlike the others, did not have a career in amateurism.

The boxer from Santa Catarina turned professional early and, after overcoming many obstacles, became world champion in 2019, defeating Dominican Carlos Adames, on points, in the World Boxing Organization (WBO) super welterweight belt dispute.

Teixeira thus became the fifth Brazilian in history to become world boxing champion. He later lost the belt to Argentine Brian Castaño, but Brazil has a good chance of returning to the top of the noble art.

Esquiva Falcão and Robson Conceição, in fact, have already fought duels for the world title. The second was very close to getting the belt.

This is because Conceição has already fought three times against world champions and, in the first of them, against Oscar Valdez, he ended up losing on points. The result, however, generated a lot of controversy, as several people saw a victory for the Brazilian.

In the third title fight, Conceição drew with Mexican Emanuel Navarrete and, therefore, the title remained with the champion.

But this shows that the current Brazilian generation has great boxers, and it is possible that we will soon have a sixth world champion.

Boxing is experiencing a moment of rise in the country and eventual triumphs could make boxing gain even more prominence. The truth is that the sport has everything it needs to go hand in hand with MMA, with both honing talents and producing high-level fighters.
