Poirier makes an enigmatic publication and raises expectations about a possible lightweight title fight

The North American has a verbal agreement to face Islam Makhachev, but there is no confirmation from the UFC so far

Living with great expectations of being announced as the next challenger for the lightweight title (up to 70,3kg.), Dustin poirier moved social networks and the emotions of his followers in an enigmatic publication. Victorious in his last appearance in UFC 299, the veteran demonstrated that he was preparing for a possible duel in the future. The photo was published on his official account Instagram.

“Looks like we’re back to work,” Poirier captioned his image.

Excited by the North American's post, his followers reacted immediately and expressed anxiety about watching him against Islam makhachev.

“I want to see you jumping into a guillotine in Islam to submit and shock the world,” said one fan.

Verbally agreed to face each other, Poirier and Makhachev have not yet had an announcement made by the UFC so far. After the North American's victory in his last appearance, Dana White avoided saying that the veteran would be the next challenger for the title. Previously, the expectation was that the winner would Charles of the Bronx e Arman Tsarukyan was elected as a rival to the Russian.

If it happens, Poirier will have a third chance to become the category's linear champion. In his two attempts, the North American lost to Do Bronx and Khabib Nurmagomedov.
