'Brazilian at heart', Ian Garry reveals his dream of performing on a UFC card in the country

New pupil of Chute Boxe, the Irishman expressed his love for Brazil and talked about his desire to perform in an Ultimate event in the 'tropical country'

Top-1st welterweight, Ian Gary He makes no secret of the fact that he feels at home when he is in Brazil. Married to a Brazilian model, the Irish fighter revealed to 'MMA Fighting' that he dreams of one day fighting in an event held in the country and that he intends to enter with the flag of his 'two nationalities'.

“One day, I will fight in Brazil and I will be very happy to wear the yellow shorts and be in the main fight in Brazil. I will carry the Irish flag on one shoulder and the Brazilian flag on the other,” said Garry.


One of the main prospects on the Ultimate squad today, Garry is married to Brazilian model Layla Machado and currently resides in the city of São Paulo, where he trains at the Chute Boxe Diego Lima academy, the team of the former lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg ) Charles of the Bronx.

Number seven in the welterweight rankings, Ian is undefeated as an MMA professional with 14 consecutive victories, half of which are by knockout. The Irishman's last fight in Ultimate took place in February, at UFC 298, when Garry, just 26 years old, beat the experienced North American Geoff neal in the unanimous decision of the judges.
