Accused by Paulo Borrachinha of denying the fight, Sean Strickland responds to the Brazilian on social media

Former middleweight champion denies rejecting fight against Borrachinha and reveals he only asked how much he would earn from it

Moments after being accused by Paulo Borrachinha of having denied a fight in UFC 302, event scheduled for June 01st, Sean Strickland He stated that that wasn't exactly how things happened.

After Borrachinha stated, during an interview with the podcast 'The Coach and the Casual', that he had been chosen by the UFC to face Strickland and that his rival had refused the proposal, the former middleweight champion (up to 83,9 kg) spoke out and replied the Brazilian in a short and blunt manner on social media.

“I never say 'no'…I just ask 'for how much?'” Strickland wrote.

Sean Strickland became welterweight champion by dominating and defeating Israel adesanya in one of the great 'zebras' of recent years in the main fight of the UFC 293, in September last year. The North American, however, ended up being dethroned in his first defense, in a narrow defeat to the current champion Dricus Du Plessis No. UFC 297, in January.


Since his split decision loss, Strickland has been campaigning for an immediate title rematch. The North American even indicated a possible departure from Ultimate towards boxing if his wish is not granted.

On the other side, Paulo borrachinha is going through a bad phase in the UFC. The Brazilian has three defeats in his last four fights. The Minas Gerais native returned from a period of almost two years away, but ended up defeated by the former champion Robert whittaker No. UFC 298, in February this year.
