Challenge against Jamahal Hill

O UFC 300, together with the pomp of a true spectacle, will give Poatan the chance to 'settle the score' with Jamahal hill, who, last year, surpassed his mentor Glover Teixeira. Thus, the Brazilian outlines his assessments of the opponent.

“They are different styles. Jamahal had a strategy and managed to put it into practice. He knew Glover wanted to put him down. The game worked. I have a different style than Glover. It's the same thing as fighting (Israel) Adesanya. I managed to put him down, and I'm a 'striker'. The grappling guys couldn’t put him down,” said Poatan.

Friendship between rivals

Close to one of the biggest commitments of his career, Alex also opened up about the provocations and friendship between the rivals Jamahal hill e Israel adesanya. A few weeks ago, his next opponent admitted to having sought tips from the Brazilian's former rival.

“He (Hill) makes his videos to promote. I'm sure it's to promote. At the level we are at, for him to think he's going to make a video that will affect my psychology, I think it's idiotic. It's impossible. He made a 'live' with Adesanya. I thought it was very clever of him. If he's going to train with Adesanya, he's going to leave frustrated. You'll think: 'Alex has already beaten Adesanya three times. This guy (Adesanya) humiliated me here (in training) and I'm going to fight a guy who has already beaten him three times,'” he declared.

Dream ending

Both Poatan and Jamahal will forever be marked in UFC history. Protagonist of one of the biggest events in MMA history, Alex highlighted his 'dream outcome'.

“I want to come out with the victory. Many ask me if it will be a knockout, or what round it is. I think about the most difficult. The hardest thing is fighting five rounds. If you fight five rounds and emerge victorious, for me, that’s what matters”, he concluded.

Athletes' history

At 36, Alex Poatán is approaching his 12th challenge as a professional in MMA. A UFC representative since 2021, the athlete, in a flash, became the first Brazilian man to win two belts in different categories in the company.
