Israel Adesanya remembers his victory over Alex Poatan and celebrates his achievement on the eve of the Brazilian's fight at UFC 300

MMA star, former champion recalls resumption of reign on the occasion and party that took place a year ago

On the eve of the defense of the Alex Poatán in welterweight (up to 93kg.), Israel adesanya recalled the victory against the Brazilian star that took place a year ago. On social media, the former middleweight champion (up to 83,9kg) would resume the reign ended by his former tormentor months ago. The Nigerian's redemption against the São Paulo native took place in UFC 287.

“A year ago, I overcame a titan. This saga strengthened my spirit and I will be forever grateful. You just need one chance of a lifetime. Don't wait. You aim and shoot,” wrote Adesanya, in her profile on X, old Twitter.

Adesanya's second reign, however, was not long-lasting. In the next challenge, the athlete ended up being overcome by Sean Strickland and, again, lost the crown in the category.

Today, Israel is experiencing a career hiatus. The athlete even suggested a return only in 2027, but recently admitted there were chances of returning to action to face the current champion, Dricus Du Plessis.
