Poatan explains about the fight in Brazil days after UFC 300, dares to suggest a rival and evaluates his future in the heavyweight division

Exclusively to SUPER LUTAS, champion reinforces plan to compete in his country in May event

On the eve of his title defense in the UFC 300, Alex Poatán clarified the chances of fighting on a card in Brazil on May 4th. Exclusively to SUPER FIGHTS, the light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg.) reinforced that, if there are no unforeseen events, he is willing to perform in his country. The athlete also spoke about his possible opponent and evaluated his future in the heavyweight division (up to 120,2kg).

“There is nothing in the contract (about fighting in UFC 301, in Brazil). I would like to do the fight, really. Of all the fights I had in the UFC, I didn't get hurt. If there is a confrontation that I come out of physically and mentally well, of course I would do it. The way I've been doing my work, why would they say 'no'? It would be good for them. To protect? The guys want a show,” said Poatan.

If his wish comes true, Alex admits he has no opponent in mind. The athlete, however, dared to suggest a plan to find the 'ideal rival'.

“I want who people think would be hardest for me. 'This one, Poatan won't pass'. So, send this one”, declared the athlete.

Finally, the Brazilian also spoke about his future as a professional in MMA. An icon of two categories, having won UFC middleweight and light heavyweight titles, the fighter evaluated a possible move to heavyweight in the future.

“I'm good in this category. I'm not struggling to lose weight. I don't know how long I'll keep fighting, how many more fights I'll have. If I'm well, my body will definitely change. If I think I have to fight at heavyweight, why not? It wouldn't be crazy. I have the size, strength and technique for it. Certainly, over time, I will get better”, he concluded.

This Saturday (13), Poatan will share the octagon with Jamahal hill, former light heavyweight leader and executioner of Glover Teixeira, friend and mentor of the Brazilian in MMA. In addition to seeking his first title defense, the São Paulo native is having a 'settlement' with the North American.
