It's official! Dana White confirms date and opponent for Conor McGregor's return

Recovered from a serious injury suffered in 2021, the Irishman resumes his career after almost three years of inactivity

It's official! Conor McGregor He has a date and opponent for his return to MMA. In a press conference after the historic UFC 300, the company's president, Dana White, confirmed a fight between the Irish star and Michael chandler for June 29th, at UFC 303, in Las Vegas (USA). Recovered from a serious injury suffered in 2021, the 'Notório' resumed his career after almost three years of inactivity.

According to the agent, the clash between the former double Ultimate champion will take place in the welterweight division (up to 77,1kg). In his last challenge, the popular phenomenon competed in the lightweight category (up to 70,3kg).

More than a year ago, McGregor had a verbal agreement to face Chandler. Both starred in the 29th edition of 'The ultimate fighter' (TUF), but the eventual clash between the athletes was marked by uncertainty.

Despite his success in the sport, Conor is not enjoying a great moment in his career. Today, the Irishman has accumulated three defeats in the last four appearances, having won against Donald Cerrone, in 2020, as its last positive result.


Chosen to share the octagon with McGregor on his return to the sport, he waited anxiously for the fight to be confirmed for more than a year. The ex-Bellator legend's last commitment took place at the end of 2022, when the American ended up being surpassed by Dustin poirier.
