Cormier points out a gap in Poatan's game and questions how the Brazilian stays at the top

Commentator is intrigued by the trajectory of the current light heavyweight king, but recognizes the athlete's unique ability

Former double UFC champion, Daniel Cormier used experience to express doubt about how Alex Poatán manages to stay at the top despite failing in his MMA technique. With the main focus being grappling, the commentator was intrigued by how the Brazilian's opponents don't capitalize on their wrestling strategies to try to defeat him in a fight.

“I stop and think: 'How is he doing this?'. With all due respect, Alex and I have a great relationship, but he doesn't do wrestling. He doesn't know how to act in wrestling. When they grab his legs, he just falls. He doesn't know wrestling. How is this happening when you don’t know how to use grappling?” asked Cormier on the program 'Good Guy/Bad Guy'.

Despite pointing out a major flaw in the champion's game, Cormier recognized the Brazilian's unique ability.

“He has such great unique abilities that he doesn't care what he can do. He is very good at what he does,” he concluded.
