The soap opera around the fight between Acelino Popó and Vitor belfort added another chapter this Wednesday (17). After the four-time boxing world champion announced the agreement to hold the fight in September, Fight Music Show 5, the ex-UFC denied the information and, once again, he incurred the wrath of his likely next opponent.

Popó, irritated by the former UFC champion's stance, did not hesitate to refute the statements. On his official Instagram, the Bahian accused Belfort of 'getting angry' and having financial problems as a motivation for the fight.

“I went to give boldness to Vitor belfort, the very fans who pressured me. But at least the influencers I fought didn't bother me so much and didn't say one thing and then another. Regardless of the contract, it was Belfort who challenged, it wasn't me who challenged. Then you're already wanting money. In fact, he wants to fight for money. It must be 'broken', probably. You were the one who challenged”, declared the boxer.

At 48 years old, Popó boasts a 22-year boxing career, with 43 professional fights and 41 victories, in addition to four world titles in the category. Since 2022, the Bahian has dedicated himself to exhibition fights, being the main star of the Fight Music Show.

In 2024, he knocked out Kleber Bambam in the FMS 4 in February and beat businessman Guilherme Grillo at the Danki Fight Show, in March.
