Retired from MMA, Ben Askren pointed out a factor that he considers crucial to the tough defeat of Jamahal hill in the light heavyweight title fight (up to 93kg.) against Alex Poatán No. UFC 300. In conversation with Daniel Cormier, YouTube, the veteran indicated that overconfidence hurt the North American against the Brazilian star. Last weekend, the challenger was defeated by knockout in just over three minutes of fighting.

"I Think Jamahal hill I was very confident. I think he underestimated how much Alex Poatán hits hard. I hope Hill doesn't get upset, but the ego was detrimental. The ego gets involved with fighters. He thought: 'Everyone says Poatan is a better stand-up athlete. So, it won't happen to me'. In my opinion, this was decisive”, said Askren.

O UFC 300 marked Jamahal's return to the octagon after more than a year of inactivity to treat a serious 'Achilles tendon' injury. Facing the Brazilian, the North American was unable to impose his strategy and ended up becoming Alex's new victim.

On the other hand, the Brazilian completed his first title defense with Ultimate gloves. As middleweight champion (up to 83,9 kg), Poatan ended up frustrated in his attempt after being defeated by Israel adesanya in the immediate rematch.
