Former champion warns heavyweight category about Alex Poatan's power: 'they are in trouble'

Kamaru Usman highlights the Brazilian's great strength, but avoids guaranteeing the light heavyweight champion's favoritism over Tom Aspinall

Amid rumors about a possible adventure in the heavyweight category (up to 120,2 kg.), Alex Poatán had an alert Kamaru Usman for the division's prospects. Aware of the Brazilian's great rise, the former welterweight champion (up to 77,1kg) publicly registered his opinion on the problem that the São Paulo native will bring to possible future opponents.

“Everyone at middleweight, light heavyweight and heavyweight is in trouble when they face a guy like Alex Pereira. If you don't take the path of least resistance and let him really fight the way he has the greatest advantage, I think everyone is in trouble,” Usman said on his podcast.

Despite the statement, Kamaru highlighted the care that Poatan needs to take in a possible confrontation against Tom aspinall.

“I definitely see a good chance for a guy like Tom aspinall, but don't underestimate Tom. He's wild too. He’s a problem for anyone to deal with,” she concluded.

Current light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg.), Alex Poatán He hopes to venture into the heavyweight category in the future.
