Sean O'Malley provokes former rival and criticizes Aljamain Sterling's fighting style: 'I saved the bantamweight division'

"Sugar" said that his rival's strategy is not exciting and pointed to him as a fighter who does not please MMA fans

Just over a week after the premiere of aljamain sterling In the featherweight division (up to 65,7kg), Sean O'Malley gave his opinion (and provoked) his former rival's fight. On his YouTube channel, the current bantamweight champion (up to 61,2kg) showed respect for the 'Funk Master' but provoked him by saying that his fighting style is boring and that he doesn't like MMA fans.

“Aljamain looked good, he made Calvin look bad. I think there were three times, three different times when the crowd was booing. Sterling was just taking him down, holding him down and just keeping him there. What I mean is that this is his style. You know, I saved the bantamweight division, that's what I was about to say,” O'Malley teased.

No UFC 292, held in August 2023, O'Malley knocked out Sterling in the first round and ended the 'Funk Master's' reign in the 61,2kg division.

After being dethroned by 'Sugar', Sterling decided to breathe new air and move to the featherweight division. The North American's debut in the new category took place in historic UFC 300, held on April 13th, with a dominant victory over the experienced Calvin kattar in the unanimous decision of the judges.
