Involved in several controversies in the days leading up to the fight, Ryan Garcia 'broke the bank' by defeating world champion Devin Haney in a fight valid for the super-lightweight category of the World Boxing Council last Saturday (20). Although he didn't win the belt because he didn't make weight for the fight, Garcia had plenty of reasons to celebrate.

In a post on social media, Garcia confirmed the rumors and stated that he had bet US$2 million (approximately 10,3 million) on his own victory. As a result, 'The Flash', who was a big winner for the duel, took home US$12 million (approximately R$61,9 million).

The amount won on the bet was just a small portion of what Ryan Garcia profited from his victory over Devin Haney. The estimate is that he earned around US$50 million (approximately R$258 million) in total.

“If you bet, bet on yourself. In addition to what we earn, we are eating well. About 50 million dollars (probably more) in one night, not bad. I will let God guide me on how to use this money”, wrote the boxer on social media.

Ryan Garcia's behavior in the days leading up to the fights raised suspicions among the public and experts regarding the fighter's focus. During the fight, however, 'King Garcia' knocked down favorite Devin Haney three times and took the majority decision victory.
