With the undefined scenario in the flyweight division (up to 56,7kg), there are athletes from outside the UFC eyeing an opportunity to face Alexandre pantoja. In an interview with the website 'MMA Mania', former Ultimate challenger Kyoji Horiguchi said he was interested in a possible return to the organization and that he had even 'sent a message' to the Brazilian fighter.

“I still want to return to the UFC, but I don't know. If they make an offer, yes, of course. They don't want me, I can't go. We're good friends, it would be a good fight, we're teammates. It would be difficult. I want to fight him (Pantoja), yes. I think it's funny because whenever I talk about a 'title shot' in the UFC, I tell Pantoja: 'If I go to the UFC, I can beat you easily'. I say that, but as a joke, you know? I want the belt from all the organizations, but if they don't want it, I can't go. It’s not my problem,” Horiguchi said.

Kyoji Horiguchi played in Ultimate between 2013 and 2016, being fired with an incredible positive record of seven wins and just one defeat, which happened to the then champion Demetrious Johnson in April 2015. At 33 years old, the Japanese athlete has an MMA record of 32 positive results and only five negative results.
