José Aldo's victim speaks out after defeat to Brazilian at UFC 301

Jonathan Martinez opens up and states that ups and downs are part of his career as a fighter; athlete promised to return soon

After witnessing great power of José Aldo in Rio de Janeiro and have his winning streak ended in Ultimate, Jonathan martinez finally vented about his defeat to the former featherweight champion (up to 65,7kg.) in the UFC 301. Appointed as favorite, the North American was unable to deal with the strategy applied by his opponent and recognized that difficult times are part of a career.

“A sport like this is super difficult. If it were easy everyone would be doing it. There are ups and downs, but we learn from them. I'll be back soon. Thank you for everyone's support and affection. Champion soon”, declared Jonathan on the official account of the Instagram.

In response, the athlete's fans showed solidarity and sent support.

“Very proud of you,” he said Brandon royval.


“Hold on, champ. You are great and we continue to root for you. Up, El Salvador! We hope to see you fighting soon”, declared a follower.

“You did very well. Proud,” said a fan.

Responsible for the penultimate fight of the event, Martinez and Aldo faced each other for 15 minutes. At the end of the confrontation, the Brazilian had his hand raised and was announced as the winner in a unanimous decision by the judges, who scored three rounds to zero against the North American. With the setback, Jonathan lost positions in the bantamweight rankings and today occupies 14th place.
