Jailton Malhadinho regrets defeat against Curtis Blaydes and admits search for evolution

In 2024, the Brazilian suffered his first defeat in the company when he was knocked out by a heavyweight standout

Months after suffering his first defeat in the UFC, Jailton Malhadinho showed maturity to deal with the stumbling block faced by Curtis blaydes. In an interview with 'MMA Junkie', the Brazilian regretted the setback and admitted the need to evolve in the sport. The athlete, today, stands out in the heavyweight division (up to 120,2kg) of the largest MMA organization in the world.

“I felt surprised and sad (with the defeat). I definitely felt like it was my big opportunity to face (Tom) Aspinal. Unfortunately, it didn't happen. It had a bitter taste,” said Malhadinho.

The Brazilian, who remained undefeated in the UFC until his meeting with Curtis blaydes admitted the need to evolve in the sport. The Bahian described the importance of changing strategy when he encounters difficulties in the Octagon.

“I don’t consider it a defeat. It's a defeat on paper only. (…) I think I needed a better strategy. It was a good fight. I think my strategy, in general, needed to change. A true champion needs to lose to be able to adapt and get better. I take the defeat as a need to evolve”, said Malhadinho.
