For very little, Arman Tsarukyan did not become the challenger for the lightweight belt (up to 70,3kg) in the UFC 302, which takes place next Saturday (01). However, the category champion Islam makhachev he lightly teased the Armenian by saying that he should thank him for being in Ultimate and treated the rematch between both fighters as 'inevitable'.

“I think Arman should thank me. I'm the one who hired Arman to fight me. I wouldn't call my fight with him a close fight. I won every round and he still asks for a rematch. He had many opportunities to become a challenger. I know that before UFC 302 he was called to fight with me. Anyway, our rematch is inevitable, we will resolve this soon,” said Makhachev.

In his UFC debut in 2019, Tsarukyan accepted a last-minute fight against then-prospect Islam makhachev. With little preparation time, the Armenian was unable to impose his game and was defeated by the Russian in a unanimous decision by the judges.

Next Saturday (01), Islam makhachev will put his lightweight belt on the line for the third time against the veteran Dustin poirier in the main fight of UFC 302, which takes place this Saturday (01), in Newark, New Jersey.
