The bite mark that made him famous in his UFC debut did not intimidate André Mascote. In his second appearance in the octagon, this Saturday (1st), the Brazilian overcame the North American Mitch Raposo in a split decision from the judges and won his ninth consecutive victory in his career.

The duel, held in UFC 302, in Newark, New Jersey, marked the debut of the organization's new gloves, designed to prevent injuries and the high number of fingers in the eyes. Despite the novelty, the fight was balanced from start to finish, with both fighters seeking to impose their style.

Mascot, known for his sharp striking, started the fight with low and frontal kicks to undermine Raposo's mobility. The American, in turn, responded with good boxing combinations at close range.

In the second round, the Brazilian accelerated the pace, looking for approaches, calf kicks and combinations at close range. Raposo, in turn, was not intimidated and tried to respond with quick and precise blows. Two fingers in the eye hit by Andre Lima were observed by the referee, but did not result in punishment.

The third round followed the tone of the fight, with both fighters seeking victory with determination. Mascot, guided by his trainers, rotated around the octagon and seemed to control the pace of the fight. At a crucial moment, a calf kick knocked Raposo down, but the American recovered quickly. When the final bell sounded, the decision was up to the judges, who declared the Brazilian's victory by split decision.
