Provoked by Tsarukyan, Makhachev rebuts his rival and opens the door for a rematch: 'Speaks a lot'

First placed in the lightweight rankings, Tsarukyan is the favorite to be the next challenger for Makhachev's UFC belt

The rivalry between Islam makhachev e Arman Tsarukyan doesn't stop growing. The main candidate for the next challenger for the champion's belt, the Armenian has constantly been provoking the Russian, who has not left him without an answer.

In a recent interview with the Russian press, the champion countered Tsarukyan's recent provocations and opened the way for a rematch with his rival.

"He talks a lot. He can't attract attention through his fights, so he tries to talk. He had his chance, I hit him once. I think I’ll have to hit again,” he said.

In addition to paving the way for the rematch, Makhachev specifically responded to Tsarukyan's recent comment that he was 'exhausted' after his victory over Dustin poirier No. UFC 302.


“I wasn’t exhausted. I was whole after each round. It is almost impossible for an exhausted fighter to choke his opponent in the fifth round. Poirier is one of the best and continues to evolve. He was submitted in two title fights, so he was preparing for that. He arrived well prepared. I tried to submit him in the first round, I put a lot of strength and he defended well”, explained Makhachev.

Islam makhachev e Arman Tsarukyan they faced each other in April 2019, in the Armenian's debut in the organization. On that occasion, the Russian emerged victorious in the unanimous decision of the judges. The victory was the fifth in the active streak of 14 victories for the current lightweight champion.
