“It's been some time (after the fight) but I still don't know. I'm kind of trying to clear my mind. Thinking and living one day at a time. But I do not know. I don't know what's next. I can't say I'll never fight again, but I just don't know why. What will I fight for? To enter a battle? I love that. But I've had a few wars over the years. It has to be for something. And maybe that thing, I'll recognize that or realize that in the next few weeks. But I’m just taking it one day at a time,” Poirier said.

In the main fight UFC 302, held on June 01st, Dustin poirier delivered a good performance against the champion Islam makhachev, but was unable to overcome the Russian and was submitted in the fifth round. It was 'Diamante's third defeat in title fights in the organization.
