Amidst the chaos created after the sudden departure of Khamzat Shimaev of the main fight of UFC Saudi Arabia, BoNickal stated that he was approached to replace the Emirati against Robert whittaker. Despite being willing to save the event, the North American revealed that he was unable to collaborate as he was traveling at the time of the call.

“I got a call, yes. Unfortunately, I received a call when I was in the mountains of Montana and I was without cell service for three days. I went back to cell service and got a couple of texts saying, 'Call me back! Call me back! Call me back!'. And it was already too late. I won't divulge numbers, but they were up there. It was too late. I couldn't even think about it, because they had already planned everything, the way they were going to do it, because I was gone,” Bo said on his podcast.
