Alex Poatán has been gaining more and more admirers, including legends and emblematic fighters of the UFC. In an excerpt published by 'Sexto Round', the organization's former light heavyweight (up to 93kg) and heavyweight (up to 120,2kg) champion, Daniel Cormier, praised the São Paulo native's performance, highlighting his power, refined technique and fast pace of victories.

“I think it’s been incredible. It's not enough to just accept opportunities, but you also have to win. And this guy (Alex Poatán) won at a pace that no one else could, you know?”, said Cormier.

For the former champion, Poatan's rapid rise is not just about the number of fights he wins, but rather the way he wins them.

“He became champion in two different weight categories in three years. It's almost impossible. And he also beat five or six former world champions in that period. So it’s not just about accepting this kind of thing, but how he performs when he has the opportunities”, added the former fighter.
