Former challenger for the bantamweight title (up to 61,2kg.) and looking to return to the path of victory, Mayra Sheetara expresses thirst to perform at the UFC 303, which takes place this Saturday (29) in order to prove that he is indeed part of the elite. Defeated by Rachel Pennington In her last appearance, the fighter guarantees that she is ready to return to the octagon and face Macy chiasson in Las Vegas (USA).
Speaking exclusively to SUPER FIGHTS, the Brazilian commented on her recovery process after losing the opportunity to become champion and said she was 100% recovered after physiotherapy, psychological and technical treatments.

“I am very well prepared for this challenge, which is a huge challenge. And we are very happy and satisfied with what we did in training. I wanted to come back straight away, but unfortunately I ended up having an injury and couldn't come back. And then we worked hard to get back to 100%, we did physiotherapy, everything I was supposed to do and as soon as I was 100% I came back, I continued with my work with my psychologist, with my psychiatrist, which is something we do and I wanted to get back so I can reverse this result, get back to the win column and try once again (for the belt)”, declared Mayra.
Provocation beyond measure?
Marked by her provocative and daring style during the promotion of the confrontation against Pennington, Mayra denied that this fact may have hindered her performance in the UFC 297. In the Brazilian's view, an injury that occurred at the beginning of the fight hampered the progress of her strategy.
“I think we worked a lot for that moment, we worked a lot for the title fight. I think what really took me out of the fight was the injury very early in the fight. I don't believe it was that (frustration). Of course I took a stance that wasn't mine, but I really wanted it to be a sellable fight, I really wanted it to be eye-catching, because until then it wasn't, after we started arguing it became a very eye-catching fight, but I don't believe that I got in the way, no. What hindered me was the injury very early on”
Duel against athlete outside the top 5
Currently ranked third in the bantamweight rankings, Sheetara was expecting to face someone in the top five in the category, but the UFC chose to offer the seventh in the division. Despite the surprise, the Minas Gerais company assured that the focus remains the same.
“We were taken by surprise when they offered Macy, but I never choose an opponent, I've never chosen someone like that, so for me, whoever they sent I would accept because that's my motto. I really would have liked a more ranked one, but that wasn't what happened. I'm coming from defeat, I have to accept that, accept that and really do what I was doing in my fights: perform, which wasn't the case in the fight against Rachel Pennington.
100% focused on UFC 303
Despite being in search of her second fight for the title, Sheetara avoided belittling her next opponent and assured that she has not been paying attention to the status of the category due to her preparation to face Chiasson.
“Actually, I didn't stop to study the division, I didn't stop to study what happened, because I'm really focused on Saturday's fight. I need this victory, I'm going to get this victory, I'm going to do everything I can to come away with this victory and the top 5 really isn't something that interests me right now, as I have a very big battle ahead of me, which is Macy”, he concluded.
Present on the main card of UFC 303, Sheetara and Chiasson face each other this Saturday (29) in Las Vegas (USA). Currently, both fighters are practically tied in favoritism published in bookmakers.
