After knocking out Jiri Prochazka e successfully defend the UFC light heavyweight belt (up to 93kg.) last Saturday (29), Alex Poatán spoke out about the accusations of 'magic' made by his opponent before the fight. With serenity and sporting spirit, the Brazilian put aside the provocations and wished the Czech the best for the future.
“I know he talks a lot about spirituality. Just so he knows, the same God who blessed us is the one who protects us. I pray a lot for him and for me to be okay after this fight”, said Poatan in a post-event press conference.

Prochazka's accusations referred to Poatan's faith, who often wears tribal paintings and a headdress at weigh-ins, in honor of his indigenous ancestry. The Czech even stated that the Brazilian 'can't fight without the help of spiritual things'.
Poatan, however, preferred not to fuel the controversy and focused on highlighting the importance of faith in his life.
With the victory over Prochazka, Poatan consolidates himself as one of the main names in UFC light heavyweight history. The Brazilian has now won four consecutive victories and is placing himself as a serious candidate to dominate the division for a long period, in addition to leaving open the possibility of moving up to heavyweight (up to 120,2kg) in the future.
