When Alex Poatán debuted in Ultimate, in November 2021, it was difficult to believe that the Brazilian would be able to achieve such stardom in just over two years. In a press conference after the UFC 303, which took place last Saturday (29), in Las Vegas (USA), Dana White praised the light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg) and admitted that he also doubted that the São Paulo native would be able to stand out in the organization.

“It's incredible. No, I didn't think so (that Poatan would be successful). Especially when you have a guy who comes from kickboxing, has a long kickboxing career and is older coming to the UFC. I thought exactly the opposite, 'This guy isn't going to do very well here, he's going to get taken down, crushed, submitted, all that kind of stuff.' But I was wrong,” Dana admitted.

In the main fight UFC 303, held last Saturday (29), Poatan knocked out Jiri Prochazka again and defended the light heavyweight belt for the second time. The grand card took place at the T-Mobile Arena, in La Vegas (USA).

Since his Ultimate debut in November 2021, Alex has won eight of his nine fights, six of which were by knockout. In addition to his impressive performance, Poatan has also won belts in two divisions: middleweight and light heavyweight.
