Two months after a bombastic statement about the size of a possible confrontation against Alex Poatán in heavy weight (up to 120,2kg.), Jon Jones once again reinforced his opinion about the idea. Discreetly, the fighter published a post on his Instagram story recalling his speech (see below). Despite the fact, the North American has not taken any action beyond this to date.

In May, Jones had expressed on his official Twitter account 'X' (old Twitter) his thoughts on the next steps to be taken in the division in which he currently reigns.

"I know Alex Poatán If he became heavyweight champion, would you consider him the greatest of all time? Returning to the gym made me think differently. This fight (against Poatan) after Stipe (Miocic) is perhaps the biggest move I can make. This assassin has already defeated so many champions and is already considered a legend by millions of people around the world. The biggest fight the UFC can make. Give Alex a chance to avenge all the great Brazilian champions I defeated”, wrote the champion.

After the declaration gained major proportions, the North American reinforced the magnitude that the eventual fight would have.

“It would be absolutely huge. A guy with a chance to become three-division champion and the greatest of all time against the truly greatest of all time. Same age, different strengths. No one can argue that this wouldn't be the biggest fight in MMA history. There is absolutely no fight that generates a payout like that. The marketing would be insane,” said 'Bones'.

winner in UFC 303, Alex Poatán created suspense about next steps in the organization. At 36 years old, the fighter avoided committing to any immediate rise to heavyweight, but assured that change is 'inevitable'.
