Poatan soars in ranking and takes over as weight-for-pound vice-leader in the UFC

Brazilian moves up two positions and is behind only Islam Makhachev among the organization's best fighters

After making history and defending the light heavyweight belt (up to 93kg.) for the second time in UFC 303, event held last Saturday (29), in Las Vegas (USA), Alex Poatán There's one more reason to celebrate. The Brazilian moved up two positions and is now second in the ranking UFC pound for pound.

With brutal knockout in the second round on Jiri Prochazka, Poatan confirmed star status in the division. In the organization's official ranking, updated this Tuesday afternoon (2), the Brazilian appears behind only Islam makhachev, lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg), among the biggest names today.

Alex's jump causes him to leave behind Jon Jones e Leon edwards, who are at the top of the heavyweight (up to 120,2kg) and welterweight (up to 77kg) divisions, respectively. The Englishman has a fight scheduled and will face Belal Muhammad | at UFC 304, which takes place on June 27.

Diego lopes it was another fighter who also 'took the elevator' by winning Dan Ige in featherweights (up to 65,7kg.). The yellow-green representative, as well as Poatan, rose two positions and now finds himself in 12th in the division led by Ilia Topuria.
