Ngannou's coach confirms his pupil's return to training and reveals a promise made by the athlete

Eric Nicksick expresses relief with the French-Cameroonian's humor after the death of his 15-month-old son Kobe

Victim of great loss in his life after the death of his son Kobe, Francis Ngannou Finally returned to training at Xtreme Couture. Keeping an eye on the French-Cameroonian, Eric Nicksick reassured fans of the former champion by talking about the fighter's attitude and improvement amid all the chaos in his personal life. According to the coach, the smile is returning to his pupil's face.

“He is healing. That's the best I can say. He is healing. We're seeing the smile back on his face, we're seeing the jokes. He's back in the gym talking trash to (Sean) Strickland and everyone around him. That's the most important thing. But all the time we know that there is a lot of healing happening inside. Every now and then he will have that moment where a vulnerability,” Nicksick said in an interview with the program 'The MMA Hour'.

Determined to put on the gloves again, whether boxing or MMA, Ngnannou made a promise to his coach about his next appearance.

“He looked at me at dinner last week and said, 'The next (fight) is for Kobe.' This shit got to me. I was like, 'f*ck you, whoever you're fighting next, God bless you.' If this is what we are fighting for, this man will be marked,” said Nicksick, referring to Ngannou’s son.

Former UFC champion, Francis Ngannou has moved away from MMA since 2022 in order to test himself and evolve in boxing. Despite his great dedication to the new modality, the athlete has not yet achieved his first victory and has suffered two consecutive setbacks. In his last appearance, Anthony Joshua brutally knocked him out. The French-Cameroonian currently has a contract with the PFL.
