Escalated to a tough mission to face José Aldo in Rio de Janeiro, Jonathan martinez reflected on the weight of sharing the Octagon against the former featherweight champion (up to 65,7kg). Despite being a slight favorite for the confrontation and coming on the back of a string of victories, the North American recalled the difficulty he had in performing when he realized that he would actually fight against Manauara.

“It was very difficult. I trained a lot for this fight. The problem was that I left the name and face in front of me, when I went to the cage and saw: 'I'm fighting José Aldo'. That's when I started thinking, 'Wow.' Everyone who saw me fight knows that it wasn't me there. That's not how I get in there. I was practically walking, not doing what I was supposed to do, and that cost me the fight,” Martinez told MMA Junkie.
