Athletes put on a jiu-jitsu show and achieved beautiful submissions in the first six months of 2024

Half of the year 2024 is behind us and the time has come for the SUPER FIGHTS select the five best submissions of the first semester in MMA.

Over the last six months, fighters have put jiu-jitsu into play and put on a show of grappling, presenting fans with beautiful and even brutal submissions in the UFC octagon and the PFL decagon.

5) Brian Ortega x Yair Rodriguez – UFC Mexico

Former challenger for the featherweight belt (up to 65,7 kg), Brian ortega returned to the octagon after almost two years recovering from a shoulder injury and put on a show by recovering from a knockdown to finish Yair Rodriguez with a katagatame in the co-main fight UFC Mexico, in February.

4) AJ McKee x Clay Collard – PFL x Bellator

On the same day that Brian ortega finished Yair Rodriguez in Mexico, Saudi Arabia hosted the historic event 'PFL x Bellator', in which A. J. McKee secured fourth place in our submissions ranking with a 'walk' and an armbar over Clay Collard.

3) Molly McCann x Diana Belbita – UFC Las Vegas 85

Pressured by two consecutive defeats, Molly McCann won again categorically in the UFC Las Vegas 85, in February. On that occasion, the Brit even broke the Romanian's arm Diana Belbita such is the brutality of the armbar.

2) Kevin Holland x Michal Oleksiejczuk – UFC 302

Molly McCann was not the only one to injure an opponent with a brutal finish in 2024. In UFC 302, in June, Kevin holland tried to alert the referee, but ended up fracturing the Pole's arm Michal Oleksiejczuk, who refused to give the three taps.

1) Michel Pereira x Ihor Potieria – UFC 301

The best finish of the first semester took place in the birthplace of Brazilian jiu-jitsu. At the UFC 301, in Rio de Janeiro, in May, Michael Pereira put on an MMA show against Ihor Potieria and put the Ukrainian 'to sleep' with a brutal guillotine.
