Since he easily overcame the Moldovan Alexander Romanov No. UFC 302, in June, Jailton Malhadinho made a point of expressing his interest in facing the former interim champion Cyryl Gane, preferably in UFC Paris, on September 28th. More than a month later and still no response from the Frenchman, the Brazilian's plan remains untouchable.

In an interview with the North American website 'MMA Fighting', Jailton Malhadinho asked again to face Cyryl Gane in the French capital.

“The only options (for Gane) now are me and Volkov and he already defeated Volkov in a very boring fight. The game doesn't fit, it would be the same thing again, with the two fighters doing a slow, tactical fight. Me against Gane would be much more interesting, not only because it is an unprecedented marriage, but also because of the different styles. There would be no way this fight would go to the judges. If I impose my game, I take down and finish. If he imposes his own, he will do everything he can to stand up and put on a show as usual”, he argued.

While many fans believe that Cyryl Gane I wouldn't accept facing Jailton Malhadinho Due to the Brazilian's fighting style, the Bahian does not believe that this is the case, much less that the UFC would be trying to 'protect' the Frenchman from an unfavorable marriage.

“Firstly, Gane beat Spivac last year and his style is similar to mine. He defended his takedowns well and landed on his feet to get the knockout. Furthermore, I don't see the UFC protecting anyone. The UFC wants to make the best fights possible. I was on the rise and they put me in Brazil against Blaydes, which was one of the worst marriages for me, so I don't think that makes sense”, said the Brazilian.

Lastly, Jailton Malhadinho reiterated that he and the team have been in constant contact with the UFC in search of the fight against Cyryl Gane and that the decision is in the hands of the organization and the Frenchman.

“My manager has been talking to the UFC about my interest in this fight. I've already spoken personally to Mick Maynard about this fight and I've challenged Gane on social media. I'm just waiting for this fight to happen. It's in the hands of the UFC and Gane. We will see. I want to stay active because a fighter's life is short and I believe this fight can be a title eliminator and make me next in line for the belt”, he concluded.
