Embittered by harsh defeat to Sean O'Malley in his last appearance when he competed for the bantamweight title (up to 61,2kg.), Marlon Vera left rivalry aside and highlighted the great power presented by the current champion. According to the Ecuadorian, the blow was powerful to the point of making him feel blind. The duel took place in March, when they starred UFC 299 in revenge.

“Just to make a comparison, the punch in the fifth round that landed perfectly on my eye, it wasn't a blow to the eye, but it looked like one, it hurt me a million times more. Like I was totally blind, I was like, 'F***! It was a perfect punch, in his favor”, declared Marlon in an interview at the UFC Abu Dhabi media day.

In addition to the punch, Vera recalled the knee connected by the North American and ruled out the possibility of having been close to a possible defeat by knockout.

“But the knee really shocked me. I was like, 'F***, I got hit by something big,' and I know it was the knee, but I wasn't like, my legs were there. I was thinking, 'F*** that really hurt,' in terms of the blow, but I would say my brain and my legs were there. I just thought, 'Don't do that again.' It was practically the same knee I hit with Rob font”He concluded.
