Weeks after having his fight canceled the day before and admitting to having used anabolic steroids, Joilton 'Peregrino' Lutterbach faces the consequences of his actions. This Tuesday (13), Combat Sports Anti-Doping (CSAD), a UFC partner agency, announced that the Brazilian fighter accepted a 24-month suspension for violating the organization's anti-doping policy. In addition to being suspended, the 31-year-old from Paraíba was released from his contract with Ultimate.
Joilton Peregrino tested positive for the presence of a metabolite of drostanolone, an anabolic steroid in a test carried out on June 8, two weeks before the UFC Saudi Arabia, an event in which he would debut in Ultimate against Shara Magomedov.
Upon learning of the exam failure, on the eve of the event, the fighter went to social media and admitted to having used the substance during a training period in Thailand, before learning that he would be hired by Ultimate.
According to the CSAD statement, Joilton admitted to having made 'extensive use' of the banned substance before being hired by the UFC. For not having declared the use at the time of signing, the fighter was punished with a longer sentence, two years, and will only be able to fight again in June 2026.
