After being submitted with a rear naked choke in the fourth round, the Nigerian spoke out for the first time on his social media. In the publication, he left the rivalry aside, congratulated 'DDP' and said he was happy to have returned to competition.
“I'm happy to have fought again, I appreciate all your energy. Congratulations, Dricus du Plessis, thank you for your honest words and speaking your truth. No matter what, Africa won tonight! DDP, you have the torch… light the fire and inspire,” Adesanya wrote on his official 'X' account.

The Nigerian, who reigned in the division between 2019 and 2022, lost by submission for the first time in his career and took off his gloves in the octagon, but will continue in action.
