Amid preparation for an unprecedented fight for the bantamweight title (up to 61,2kg), in UFC 306, Merab Dvalishvili suffered a serious cut on his face and is looking to recover before the fight scheduled for September 14th. Despite the scare revealed on his social networks (see below), his next opponent Sean O'Malley he assured that he will not leave the fight and minimized any drama regarding the situation.

“Calm down, everything is fine. Just a small injury during training. I never walk away from a fight and I never will. I'm coming after you, O'Malley, stronger than ever. Let’s go!” declared Merab in his Instagram.

Despite his positivity, the Georgian did not please Dana White, who expressed great irritation with the athlete's attitude in publicly announcing his injury.

“The whole world knows about the Merab cut. He posted. I mean, our guys are so dumb. It's unbelievable at the next level. Everything I say about boxing, what I'll give boxing is that when something happens in preparation, man, let me tell you something, it doesn't get out. And our guys can't wait to share it on social media. It's a small cut. It’s not a big deal, but it obviously needed to be posted (…) these guys are very stupid”, declared Dana in a press conference after 'Contender Series'.
