What appeared to be yet another display of power from Floyd Mayweather turned into chaos in the ring. In a rematch against John Gotti III, grandson of the famous mobster, the undefeated boxer not only dominated the confrontation, but also staged an unusual scene when he kicked out the referee in the second round. The controversy took place last Saturday (24).
The confusion began after Mayweather landed a cross to the back of Gotti's head, a blow prohibited in boxing. The referee, alerting to the irregularity, was promptly pushed out of the ring by the American. Mayweather's reaction, visibly irritated, generated a moment of tension and forced a new referee to be brought in to continue the fight.

The former world champion's attitude generated diverse reactions on social media, with many fans questioning the athlete's professionality. The referee's expulsion also raised debates about Mayweather's lack of emotional control in some situations.

Floyd Mayweather gets involved in controversy and wins in boxing
This was not the first time that the two athletes were involved in a controversy. In the first fight, held in June 2023, the dispute was interrupted after a widespread fight between the boxers and their teams.
The rematch, despite the incident, ended without an official winner, as the fight had an exhibition character. Mayweather, once again, demonstrated his technical superiority, but the referee's expulsion will certainly be one of the most memorable moments of his career.
