Ilia Topuria praises Diego Lopes and cites conditions to face Brazilian in next title defense

Current featherweight champion (up to 65,7kg) and heading towards his first title defense, Ilia Topuria expresses confidence to look beyond his next Octagon appearance. Keeping an eye on the rise of Diego lopes, the Spanish-Georgian praised Manauara's attitude and already counted on victory over Max Holloway on October 26th when he revealed his condition to face the Brazilian after an eventual victory over the Hawaiian.

“I really like the attitude that Diego lopes he has. He is always respectful to me, so I like the attitude he has towards me. If he wins, maybe he’ll be next in line,” said Topuria in an interview with MMA Junkie.

Heading towards the most important duel of his career, Diego expects to enter the top 5 of the category if he triumphs over Brian ortega in an event scheduled for September 14th, at UFC 307. Riding on four consecutive victories, only one of which was on points, the fighter is seen as a big favorite against the former title challenger.
